It’s easy to be overwhelmed by choice in New York City. That’s why it is incredibly satisfying to find a restaurant so good you don’t need to think, you just know where to go. We recently added Northern Spy Food Co., a cozy East Village spot, to our list of favorites and we can’t stop going back! Chef Hadley Schmitt’s menu is full of delicious locally-sourced and seasonal dishes – we recently bonded with the team over our mutual love of buying spices at Dual Specialty Store on 1st Avenue! Opened in 2009, it is now open for lunch every day and we strongly suggest heading up a few blocks from the hotel for a cup of Hudson’s finest Strongtree coffee and a Kale Salad or one of their amazing sandwiches (we’re still dreaming about the Chicken & Egg!).

Thanksgiving at Gemma!
UNIS
UNIS is one of our favorites Mens’ stores in the city. Conveniently located on Elizabeth Street in Nolita (a 10 minute walk from the hotel), this is one of our go-tos for classic, elegantly designed Mens’ casual-wear, including beautifully cut shirts and pants. Designer Eunice Lee’s commitment to quality is apparent in every stitch and all her garments are made either locally in NYC or in LA. The store also smells fantastic – you can purchase the Le Labo candles they burn just across the street!
Time Out’s Best Winter Bars!
Our lobby bar is featured in Time Out’s Best Winter Bars! We’re in fine company amongst other cozy haunts in the city. The full feature is: here.
Remember, remember…
It’s the 5th of November! And over in England they are celebrating Guy Fawkes Night. Laura Cooper Brown has picked out of a couple of her favorite ways to remind herself of home. While she purchases her Marmite from Myers of Keswick and sups on Bangers ‘n Mash at Tea & Sympathy in the West Village, over on the East side she visits tailor extraordinaire, Alex Wilcox, at Lord Willy’s and knows where to go for New York’s finest curry… Brick Lane.
