Obscura Antiques & Oddities

Obscura Antiques & Oddities, owned by Mike Zohn and Evan Michelson, is surely one of the strangest shops in the East Village. Located on 10th Street, close to Tompkins Square Park, you will find furniture and objects you didn’t know you wanted, from taxidermy… to lamps… to coffins! It’s definitely worth stopping by for a completely unique experience.  Below are some clips from the Discovery Channel show ‘Oddities’ which gives an insight into the buyers and suppliers of some of these bits and bobs!

A haunting on the Bowery…

Halloween is nearly upon us and we have a few things to mention. Time Out’s Own This City just included us in their “Most Haunted Places in NYC” – we’ll indulge Schoenberg because we are secretly dying to go on one of his haunted tours of NYC. We have our annual pumpkin display in place thanks to our Director of Operations, Mike G., who gathered some prime gourds for us from Queens Country Farm (see the Bowery Squire watching his crop below). In terms of celebrations, we’re keeping a low profile but our friends over at Santos Party House are throwing a great party tonight to unveil the new Urs Fischer installation, with live performances and DJ sets til late. Happy haunting!
